TERM #3 YEAHHHHH!!!

Wow! Another great start to yet another amazing TERM…

TERM #3 and we are all back refreshed from a great well deserved break ready for a lot of CHANGE and more fun learning.

Our new FOCUS STATEMENT for this term:
Lights, Camera, Take Action for Change!
And FOCUS QUESTION:
How can I tell a story about change through film?

This week we looked at a story called Boundless Grace to set the scene for Change.

Top of Form
This is an adorable book about a young African-American girl named Grace. Grace’s mother and father split up when Grace was a very young child. Her father lives in Africa and Grace lives with her mother in the United States.

Grace feels that her family “isn’t right” because it doesn’t resemble the families that she reads about in her school books. When an unexpected plane ticket arrives for Grace and her grandmother, Grace feels so nervous that she won’t remember her father or fit in with his new family.

Upon arrival to her father’s home in The Gambia, Grace faces her new brothers and sisters and her beautiful new stepmother. Grace has trouble accepting the new stepmother at first but soon finds her to be a lovely addition to her life.

Grace leaves Africa with a new feeling that family is what you make of it and her family is special just the way it is.

EVERY DROP COUNTS!!!

This week ROOM 16 created a water pledge on how to save water as a Class and as a Whanau.

We even had a 2 minute challenge for taking a shower and found out that 2 minutes is a long time and that you can save water by having 2 minute showers.

Check out our Class and Whanau/Family Pledges.

WK#5 LEARNING IS FUN...

For Maths this week room 16 have been looking at Measurement and different ways in which everyday objects or subjects could be measured wither it by km, mm, cm, L, minutes, hour(s) you name we will try it...

So to kick off our Maths this week we looked at different things that can be measured.

We looked at height, hand span's, shoe sizes we even looked at ways in which water could be measured.

We made a chart with our predictions and guesses of how many cups of water it would take to fill up certain containers.

Check it out...

Looking at the height of students in room 16
here we have shortest to tallest....

We even looked at the length of hair between our girls.
Left/Right:  Leah with the shortest and Adriana with the longest hair.

So students in room 16 wanted to know what container would hold the most volume of water.
Each student had the chance to guess what they thought the right about would be using cups and their way of measuring the volume.

So which container do you think will hold the most water?????.....
We will update you with the results during the week.
